I came upon about 50 NOS Tubes that I am trying to identify and see if they may be able to be used in an amplifier. Anyone know of any good websites that could help me identify the tubes and determine if they would work with an amplifier?

    Thanks!

I hope your find is fruitful, but how do you know if it is a mother lode if you don't know what they are? Just curious?

Once you identify them, you might want to see what's good or not. I just had Scott from South Valley Vintage Amps test and grade about 50 tubes I had accumulated over the years. Very nice guy to work with, and it helped me identify what was good and what was garbage. It told me what tested to spec or not, and what kind of life I could expect from them. He also matched pairs for me. Now I just have to spend 100 hours with a Univalve and see what sounds best! He did point out that I had a killer Mullard 12ax7 in the group, tested 100% and would sell for about $150.00 NOS! I guess I'll keep that one. Think it's a bit much for a $99.00 Valve Jr.?

Not if it sounds better than anything else.

Not sure why people try to correlate how much they spend on an amp with the price of enhancements that might make it sound infinitely better.
