I was out looking for a birthday gift, and I came across the coolest thing.
An old pharmacy tube testing machine. And it turns on, lights up and everything.
Would look great as a lamp/decor piece in the house. Snapped some iphone pics, put out the call to the wife....and yeah got a big NO on that one.

    Regardless, thought i'd share here.

Couldn't you put it in the garage or something where it's not seen everyday? Looks cool to me.

I found one of them in a barn one time. The guy says "Oh, yah. That came out of the drugstore downtown when it closed about 25 years ago." I was all over the Sylvania stuff down below.

    Awesome.
I remember going down and testing TV Tubes with Dad for that stuff. Late 70's.

Got an old Eico Damien (Model 666) portable. Gonna make a channel-switching FrankenAmp of some sort out of it...all those cool buttons and stuff. I think I've been gonna do that for, oh, maybe two or three years now... :bonk

Neat EICO. But like INXS sed: Don't Change a Thing.

Someone gave me a little Hickok.

Do it work? Mine's toast, so I don't mind tearing it up. If I ever get around to it that is...

Mine still does [probably nds calibrating?] but it's not all that useful. I do better checking tubes [for noise, etc.] right in the old Fender amps.
I hate to think of all these neat USA gadgets getting tossed. I'll have to post a pic of an ancient oscilloscope I found.
