    I find Tim to be pretty reasonable most of the time. Indeed, he is part of why my "boooo" is immediately followed by a "I bet I could find a used Badger for around $1k..."

    We can easily add another Drive block. I'm actually surprised there's only one. I'll tell the engineer to make it two. It literally as simple as changing one line of code:
    #define DRIVE_BLOCK_INSTANCES 2

    Just another suggestion for the code:

    #define MAKE_THE_PENTATONIC_SCALE_I _AM_ABOUT_TO_PLAY_SOUND_LIKE_SOMETHING_MORE_COMPLICATED

    In all the info flying back and forth this weekend, I didn't see confirmation on whether the amp block has four channels or not. I see the Cab block has quite reasonably been restricted to two.

    Are there similar restrictions on the amp block?

    Not to nitpick, but cabs have been limited to two (simultaneous) instances, not two channels. Now i don’t even know if channels apply to cabs. But it’s been said that the FM3 supported 4 amp channels (one at any given time).

    I guess I don't get why you'd even want to put a limit on something like that if it is indeed semi-abrirary. For use cases where the FM3 is just a pedal board into the front of an amp - especially an amp I'm not familiar with...two would be a bare minimum.

    2 drive blocks each with 4 channels.

    From the Wiki's Drive block page
    • Axe-Fx III: 4 channels
    • FM3: 4 channels
    • Axe-Fx II: X/Y
    • AX8: X/Y
    • FX8: X/Y
    Also from the Wiki
    Most effect blocks in firmware Ares have multiple channels. Channels can be regarded as mini-presets in each block. Each channel provides a unique set of parameter values. Switching between channels is instantaneous and pretty seamless and can be done manually (on the hardware or with a foot controller) or automatically when changing scenes.

    Channels provide quick and easy switching between sounds without the unwanted side-effects of preset changes (due to grid reordering). For example, set the Amp block so that Channel A is a “Deluxe Verb” model, Channel B is a “Plexi”, Channel C is a “Recto” and Channel D is “FAS Modern”. Then change channels almost instantly at the touch of a button.

    Yeah, it's just part of what has always had me a little hesitant to give the Fractal stuff a whirl - it's always seemed to me to be premised on me building a pretty reasonably well thought out preset, which I'm pretty terrible at doing.

    If you need 3+ drives on at once then you definitely have a dilemma. But if you only need 2 on at a time, you have access to up to 8 drives per patch (4 channels per block)

    They would need to add an extra hardware button labelled "Talent" to implement that.

    Yeah, I'm not sure I wanna switch to a channel workflow/mentality is more the issue, and if the number of instances is arbitrary not sure why the device should try to force me to do so.
