I was checking out some 2008 Gibson Les Paul historics recently and I thought the fret size seemed to be the same as the USA production models. Anyone know if the current Gibson LP historics are using the same size fret wire?

Reason I ask is because some of the earlier historics I've played (2004, 2005) had that low flat wire which I don't really care for.

    Thanks!

I think it depends. I would assume gold tops and black beauties come equipped with the "fretless wonder" low/wide frets.

My '06 R7 Goldtop has the same tall frets that my '07 R9 has, so maybe they're using a more consistent wire these days.

I do believe the last few years they've all been the same.

    Feel like 6105s, to me.

    6105's - as in the narrow-high wire?

RR - how do you find string bending on both guitars?
