Glad you like the IR!
Mic position is always important. Particularly so with ribbon mics (IMO)

If you get a chance try a Shure KSM313, an AEA R84 and a Beyer M160. The KSM313 is now my preferred mic for guitar cabs. I like it better than the R121.

Thanks Cliff!
I'll have to check those out.
I've got a decent collection of mics, but the R121 was my first ribbon.

On guitar cab, how would you describe the difference between the KSM313 and the R121?

There's quite a bit of low mids, particularly a bump around 110 Hz (proximity? room?), in this compared to similar IRs. I can get it in the ballpark of similar IRs if I notch that down 5 dB at Q 2.4.

I like the character of it, though. Thanks for sharing!

edit: took down Big Wreck "Albatross" clip (didn't seem necessary), altered suggestions

I find the KSM313 a little more balanced. The R121 has a lot of bass and proximity effect and the high end can be a little dull.
