Isn't that tied to their $700 (and up) interface?

For $700+$250 just for the plug-in, I'd rather go for more affordable and versatile solutions.

On the other hand, you can think of it as spending a grand to get an amp and a ton of awesome plugins.

I hope it is better than the previous amp sim efforts on this platform. Not they that they are bad but I just wasn't into them enough to purchase any.

I think this hit today. Now I gotta get a UA interface, but want to try this out. Using Sgear now - be interesting to compare.

    Cool, I'll try it out.

I was underwhelmed by the Brainworx Engl plugins for UAD but I do use the Vox, Fender and bass models from Softube amp room fairly often.

It might seem strange to buy an Apollo just to get Freidman models, but most of us that own one do so because it's a killer recording interface with (arguably) the best recording plugin suite out there. Any accurate amp model plugins offered are gravy.

The brainworx engl vst version was weak compared to s-gear IMHO

You and I are on the same page.

I just bought the Friedman plugins. Demo'd them and was convinced they'd work for me.

Was? Does that mean you did not like them? Just curious.

LE-Pou plugs are just as good, another expensive attempt at s-gear quality.

I meant I bought them because I was convinced. I'm not disappointed at all, in fact I'm finding the more I use them the more I like them. Truly great stuff.

But you have to own the Apollo interface ? I have a PC not a mac, is it compatible.

I went on the site , but was a little confused as to what I would need to get the suite, new Friedman amps, and if they all are compatible with my PC .

I might be in the market for an upgraded audio interface regardless.

Good to hear. I can't get them until I upgrade my interface, but looking forward to trying the other plugins as well as the Friedman.

I was totally underwhelmed with the ENGL's which really frustrated me because I love those amps in real life. However, I think Friedman's really deliver. I would not call them quite S-Gear quality but they're pretty darn close. I hope UAD goes back and gets the ENGL's redone.

Yeah, I tried the ENGL plugins and did not like them. The Vintage Amp Room was good though, so I bought that a while back.

I've been a huge UA/ UAD fan for years. It's $$ but good stuff. I don't have Firewire on my main recording/ orchestration rig still. ( I have two Satellite cards)

I would love to budget for a UAD Apollo- but I spent $$$$ on Apogee stuff. Plus I need a new machine. So that's like $3500+$800 + those plugins... yikes!
