Saw this on Friedman’s Facebook page, but it’s not on Sweetwater site yet. Anyone know the pricing, or what makes it deluxe?

There's a good thread on it on rig-talk(sorry for cursing TGP.. :) ). Lots of info, etc. Seems like a well thought out amp... but like all Friedman's I want to play... way too rich for my blood. I believe this 50watt is $3500.

I figured it would be close to the 100 in price but that’s more than I expected. Too rich for me also, so I’ll stick with my Runt 50.

I really like the idea behind this amp, especially the clean side. Price is way out there, and if I had that money, it would have to compete with a CA Triptik 2, which is 3 channel, has a great clean too, and also gets pretty heavy. Tube changes allow operation of as low as 18 watts for those living room jams I find myself in.

It would have to sound significantly better to make up for the features I can find on the CA.

The Triptik-2 is an absolute animal! Another great feature is its ability to take a variety of tubes and self bias. Worth every penny of cost for the handwired quality you're getting

Looks cool. A few more knobs than I usually like on amps but, I'll be it sounds fantastic.

Totally agree. My love for CA comes from Alan’s build ethos. He knows so much about what he’s doing that I trust him implicitly to make the best possible amp.

Dave Friedman is a rock star. He is amp builder to the stars. He is almost a celebrity in his own right. And he also builds incredible amps! Hard to go wrong with his stuff, too.

    Conclusion: I need more money.

Dave is creating these amps but not building them, obviously. BAD is building them for him. This 50 watt version really looks to have some amazing features on it that he has added in. Combine that with the smaller headshell, and it is really going to be a great setup. I’d love to get one and could but at the same time, I’m really happy with what I have. I doubt we will see these up here until next year as the retailer in my area is probably the slowest out there to receive anything from Friedman. I think they waited close to 17 weeks for a BE-100 to come in. Great sounding amps, no question and Dave has some great service according to many.

Release date is Nov 10th from what Ive heard. I was also disappointed to hear it was $3500, way too much for a 50 watt IMO. I'll still be going for the Runt 50.

Why would a 50 water be inherently cheaper than a 100 watt?

Ummm, because thats usually the way it works. The 50 watt Marshall amps are cheaper than the 100 watts, the 50 watt Orange Rockerverb is cheaper than the 100 watt, the 50 watt Mesas are cheaper than the 100 watts, the 50 watt EVH is cheaper than the 100 watt....

This isn’t just a BE100. Dave is using a completely different clean channel (Buxom Betty).

The iron costs less and a bit less labor if the sockets are hand wired.
Can only see about $100-200 or so in the difference though.

Because guys want something for nothing... They think $100 to $200 or so in parts savings should make the amp half the price. And in this case you also have additional features like the independent gain and volume controls for the BE and HBE channels and added controls for Thump and Response and a half power mode.

And Sweetwater already has a line of people waiting for them to ship so I'd say the price is fine lol

The Runt is a "price point" design.
    The BE-50 is not.
