Fryette Sig X question

Question for you Sig X owners;
How well does the Sig X do "modern metal" tones?
(Fear Factory, Meshuggah, Devin Townsend-type tones)
The Sig X is on my radar for eventual live use with my current project.
Thanks!

I'm not terribly well versed on Meshugga, but I could get spot on Rammstein tones with my Sig X.

I think no prob on the 3rd channel, maybe with an od in front for that xtra attack.

You can do that kind of stuff easily. Lots of definition and just plain killer high gain tones in the Sig x. Ola Englund has a YouTube of the Sig x doing some serious metal and it sounds amazing to me but I'm a touch biased :)

Finally got a chance to play through a SigX today at
my local Guitar Center. I thought all 3 channels sounded
VERY nice, and all of the "character" switches made
significant differences in how each channel sounded.
I really liked the clean channel! And all three channels
really worked with my guitar tonally.(Ibanez Universe)
The one drawback that kept me from purchasing it was
the loud pop when switching between the clean and
distortion channels.
Wow.
At bedroom volume level it was not an issue, but when
I turned it up to band practice level on the 100 watt setting
it was nasty.
Bummed.

It's ether an early one, or there's a bad preamp tube. Either way, a little maintenance and possibly a simple update takes care of that.

I would bet that's a bad tube, mine came from November of 2008 and the channel switching is dead silent.

We don't charge for updates. We have a low flat rate service charge that covers the labor cost for most normal maintenance and repair procedures (not including parts and shipping). Updates are included free of charge. Turnaround time is normally 3 days or less.

Please contact me at support@fryette.com for details.
