I was messing with my Fuchs overdrive channel a few days ago. I ran the front M.V. WAY up on this take, and turned it WAY back down on the back loop master. I really dug the smooth tone I was getting. For once, I did not overplay, and really liked the take as well. I listened to Kenny Garretts tune "Song of songs", and went for that vibe again on Journos funky "Frog" backing track. I like the snake charmer vibe of the altered and melodic minor scales superimposed over the 7th backing chords. It really makes you use your ear. No safe spots.
Top clip here called "FUCHS SMOOTH FROG".....http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=121826

i really liked that tone alot .... had the right amount of grit to make it sing, but was clean plenty enough to be articulate ... sorry if this is too obvious, but what guitar/pickups?

nice note choice too ... some real nice phrasing out of the scales

    cheers

Tag, I would imagine that I could do the same trick on my Two Rock with the MV and Loop master. Will have to try it.
Man, that is some twisted ass, sick sh** your are playing here. I got kinda scared(in a good way) listening to it.
    :dude

    Peace bro,

But the tone was kicking some serious ass, as did the playing.
Sounded kinda like a Lerner with 100 lbs. balls! :)

Now wait a minute.... I'm pretty sure you've had kids since then. :AOK

BTW: Nice job Tag! I dig the Melodic Minor feel.

    Hi Tag,

Really liked the tone tone and playing on this one.
You would, however, sound much more to your rightful advantage if you spent some time getting your levels right to get rid of the distorsion. Also if you checked your mix to get the guitar to sit better in the mix. Then you would post clips that were not only educational and inspirational but also highly enjoyable.

    Cheers,

    Mats N

Great playing, Tag. As a novice guitar player, this was a great lesson for me in the value of learning exotic scales. That was just totally cool phrasing to my ears! :D

Hey thanks for listening guys. Im really glad you liked it! I am going to pick up another mic and see if that helps with the clipping.

    Hey L5player,
Thanks for the comments, and you need to do a take of this too. I have loved all of your stuff! :)

The only problem is now I may have to sell my Fuchs. When I play it, I was just starting to get the thought of Scott with his open bathrobe out of my mind. Now, all I can see is him standing there with it open, his little "ding ding" hanging out, and two 100 lb. balls.  :(

    Very nice Tag.

I picked up an ODS Custom 20 a little bit ago & had Andy SLX it for me (Thanks for the tips ScottL & for great work & customer service Andy :BEER ).....the more I play the thing, the more I come up with nice little nuances in tone, but the OD is AWESOME !!!

Smooth, fat & full....without pedals. I've used my wah a few times, but in general, no pedals & love it!!!!

Gotta say Tag, that's the best tone and playing I've heard from you, your playing has definitely improved in the last couple of years, good job.

Also hate to say it but when I A/B your clips ;) the Fuchs is kicking the Bruno's ass.

It won't, it's not the mic.

Do me a favour, on your digital recorder go to the very first gain control, the one that controls the level of the mic pre and turn it down two or three notches, that should fix it.

Tag, nice tone man. I've got an ODS50 and I'm always interested in new and different ways to use it. When you say turned it WAY back down on the back loop master, do you mean the send or return control? What about the series/parallel switch? Anything running in the loop? Cool choice of notes BTW.:AOK
