    This might be a question of perception but I'd like to hear yours.

    Regarding the Fulltone Full-Drive 2;

    Fuzz or OD ?

    Please excuse me if this question has already been posed umpteen million times, I wasn't able to find the related thread.

    Overdrive, based on TS808.

    GJ,
    Given that criteria is the FD-2 successful in your view at emulating the TS808 ? Or something different[ maybe better]?

    Definitely. The question though is if you need all the bells and whistles of the FD2. The newest version with MOSFET is highly versatile and can cover alot of ground.

    What is your intended application?

    Definitely an overdrive and not a fuzz.

    I'm weighing the FD-2 against the Eternity in the roll of killer OD...

    If you aren't going to use the boost function of the FDII, then the E might be a better choice.

    Fulldrive II is a great OD. But it ain't near as cool as an Eternity (IMO). The Fulldrive is a lot more compressed, more detached sounding and gritty. Eternity is still an OD, but is smoother and more "realistic" sounding.

    One thing that appeals is the smaller footprint of the 'E', but here's a question;

    would you define the 'boost' stage of the FD-2 as 'fuzz' ? Another words does the FD-2 wants to be called an OD/ Fuzz ?

    even with the boost engaged the FD doesn't get into fuzz territory, really. I'd have a hard time saying that it gets into distortion territory, for that matter.

    No, not at all. And there's not as much gain/volume on that boost function as you might think. I've never liked the Fulldrives, but I do not own an Eternity either.

    The FD2 is never fuzzy, at any setting.
