Ok I have been using a Landgraff DO with my Flexi and my Red Fang 1x12 from Ear Candy. It sounds extremely nasally and just thin. I am looking for a really thick fusion od tone think along the lines of Degenaro, Howe, MVP Centrifugal Funk and then Holdsworth tone which isn't really OD I guess. Have you guys got any suggestions for this, I would appreciate it so much. Thanks

A good 'fusion' sound OD that could be had for cheap is the Boss OS-2.

A Zendrive is good for that kind of tone too.

Best Holdsworth tone I heard from a pedal is the Xotic BB, pushed with the RC.

have you tried the third toggle position on the Langraff? Less output gain but more creamy smooth OD, just make other necessary adjustments on the pedal eg, guitar, amp. Might help.

I know Ed Degenaro will tell you that he always stacks dirt boxes to achieve that wonderful grit.

Tried the Landy again and it just isn't working with the Red Fang at all. I am gonna try out the Crunch Box. The clips sound cool and its cheap

I reckon the Landy is actually broken. I set the gain at about 12 o'clock or more and if I increase the intesity of my picking it makes noises like a bee and thats on every toggle setting. That isn't normal is it? Should I send it back to John Landgraff?

Great thread, especially the Zendrive comments, if only that box was more readily available.

I'll throw out the Barber Direct Drive with the Tone knob harmonic boost engaged.

BB Preamp pushed with either a Barber LTD, Mc Squeeze in either compression or clean boost mode, or a Barber TonePress set to unity gain with heavy compression and the blend knob set more towards the uncompressed sound (so the compression comes in more on the tail end).

Another nod for the Zendrive. Fantastic OD for fusion tones! Well worth the wait and a real bargain.

I have a modded Fulltone OCD that is great for fusion tones - really! It is quite similar to the CJOD at some settings. The mods sweeten and smooth out the highs, tame the low end a bit, and boost the mids. It still has teeth and great bass response but it's so much more refined than stock. It also retains the dynamic feel of the stock OCD. This is my favorite OD pedal right now. I did the 500K volume pot mod and the capacitor mod referred to as mod #2 in this thread:

$135 for a used OCD, $3 in parts, and 2 hours labor (most of which was spent cutting through the 'goop'). Definitely a bargain!

Its a very thick and smooth sounding pedal, so yea, its sounds like something is wrong with it.

I tried it with a different cabinet and the same thing. This Landgraff and my Flexi never really got on with me. Just did interact well with my playing. I am gonna get it all up for sale. I had better get the Landy fixed first though.
