What fuzz pedal can get me close to that Lenny Kravitz tone?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e01-e...on%20the%20run

I'm refering to the one in the intro part. I dunno if Lenny's tone is fuzz but I sure do like his guitarist's fuzzy tone!! What are some modern day production fuzz pedals that can get me close?

    Thanks!!

See if you can find any threads about Craig Ross or google him. I like the guys tone a lot too.

You know honestly, there are so many good fuzzes out there and they are so individual, if you can go out and try a bunch with the amp that you have that'd be the best way to find that sound. I've found that because amps are different, often different fuzzes create different sounds in different amps not to mention the players own style pickups and etc, so besides looking up Craig Ross's gear I'd just go out and try everything you can try hopefully with your own rig. I'd say check out Proanalog (Fuzz Royale with Cheese), Analogman, Fulltone (69 and 70) Foxrox, Foxx, Homebrew, the London Fuzz, BJF, and or Univox Superfuzz (or even Nick Greer Black Fuzz) for a more bombastic type of 70's fuzz and so on and so forth. Often the combination of germanium treble boost and germanium fuzz face (sunlion) can get that kind of killer fuzz tone.

    Cheers.

I've tried a Captain Coconut 2 (Foxrox) and it gets a very nice fuzz. Like pacomc79 noted, there is definate amp-fuzz relationship, so its best to try out fuzzes with your own rig if possible. Foxrox also makes different fuzz cards so you can find (or even make!) the sound you're looking for.

+1 my CC2 nails the Kravitz fuzz sounds and the cleaned up fuzz sounds perfectly with the stock hybrid card going to light od to just overdriven tube amp.

I was on this same quest about 2 years ago. So I sent dave fox an email. Here's his response below. I bought the pedal and it's excellent. It gets the tone on the video, as well as nailing the "are you gonna go my way" tone, which is what I was enquiring about. This is what it is:

    "Hi Jeff,
Lenny recorded that album right before I met him. BUt when I was hanging
with him, I built up a tone bender clone for Craig and he liked it.
Man... that was 11 years ago. Anyway, it sounds like he's using a fuzz
face. But not a smooth one - probably a fuzzface that has a dying
    battery or slightly mismatched transistors.

You can hear that slightly brittle sound in the intro and the lead. That
lead is actually one of the things that inspired me to put a GRIT knob
on Captain Coconut's Fuzz. The grit knob controls the bias to the
transistors allowing you to dial in anything from smooth to totally
gated. Somewhere in between is where you'll get that tone.

    Best regards,

    Dave"

    I hope this helps.

I heard a clip of the Fuzz Tone reissue and it sounded like a Metal Zone.
