I really love the fuzz tone on the Black Keys song "My mind is rambling" from Chulahoma. The only fuzz I have is a newer NYC Muff, which doesn't really do that well. Any recommendations? Would prefer a smaller box to fit my board too...

I believe he used a Green Russian Big Muff on that album

That pedal will also get you to "do the rump" territory.

cool, the sound clips on their site sound like what I'm looking for. Just want to have some (reasonable) bit of note clarity but very raw sound.
    Thanks for the recommendation.

Sounded pretty Muff-ish to me, good but I thought you were looking for something else.

That's how I would describe the hoof. Raw, but good note clarity. It has all the woolyness of a muff with an overdrive mixed in.

Yes, much more clarity than my NYC muff...really noticeable on the bass strings which break through the mix now. Great pedal.

Dan actually uses a Hoof from time to time, as well as an EQD Dirt Transmitter and countless other fuzzes
