Would I be crazy to unload this for a YJM100??? '79 JMP 100 halfstack - cab with '79 blackback 55Hz speakers.

IMO... yes. But if you really want one, do it.

I hear you... but to my ear, the YJM sunds better.

That said, the JMP is probably in the long run more collectible, and is definitely more reliable. What to do?!? :worried

The simple answer... keep/get the best one! If you want a YJM, get one. I'm biased toward vintage amps, especially Marshalls.

I'm biased towards vintage Marshalls as well. There are two sides to that equation however: construction and tone. Construction on the YJM is unfortunately modern. Tone, however, is vintage all the way! It actually sounds closer to the vintage tone I crave than the vintage amp I currently own. Plusa bunch of really cool features that extend that beyond vintage.

Just save up and get the YJM... I would hold on to your marshall if you can possibly do it...

I hate to admit this, but you're right. Hopefully down the line someone will be unloading one of these and I can snag it for a more reasonable price. :bkw

What is it about your JMP that you find lacking ? Myabe your old marshall just needs a good going through, or perhaps a just a few simple mods to get it where you like . just a thought.

Exactly. I would never ever ever get rid of a JMP for anything with YJMs name on it.

I know where you're coming from.
That YJM is a great sounding amp capable of plenty of great sounding gain at all volumes.
    Something that JMP doesn't do!
I agree with the rest, though.
Keep what you have and save up for the other.
I'd leave that JMP stock. Clean stock JMPs are starting to bring some good money, and it should only go up from here.

Seeing as how the yjm isn't selling as quickly as most would have thought. You can probably get a good deal on one used or new. Wished I waited a bit before jumping on mine. Goes to show you can't predict how things will turn out. Of course, I can only hope that the amp becomes some kind of holy grail amp later :). you never know!
