    Ok.. long story short.

    I have a $400 credit at GC.

I could really use the cash... Any suggestions of what piece of gear to buy and flip easily too recoup the cash (or most of it)?

    Thanks!

Scour their used inventory for something good that's underpriced. I see this a lot in GC's used section, but you have to be patient, cherry pick the best, and check often. There's a lot of people out there doing the same. Check prices against sold listings on Ebay, etc. Use their online used inventory to search and you can even buy from stores out of state and have it shipped for free to a local store. If its not good they'll return it right on the spot.

If you want to go brand new you're going to have a hard time recouping your full amount, since technically once its in your hands its "used" even if its unopened, unplayed, etc. Even offering the original receipt and unregistered warranty, a buyers still aren't going to be willing to pay full in store new price from a private seller.

Yeah if you watch the used inventory for a few weeks you would be shocked what shows up drastically under market! I've seen pedal power II+'s go for $50:red

    Thanks.

Used pedals may be the way to go. They can be easily sold and shipped.

Or you could sell the credit for a discount.

Yes selling it would be a good option. But I would look for some used boutique pedal that would come in used... they tend to hold their value quite well.

That's what I would do. Surely you have a friend that would give you $300 for $400 credit at GC.

What part of the country are you in?

I agree with the used route. Not just locally either - I've ordered used off of their website and the 5-6 times I've done so, all from different stores in different parts of the country, the shipping is fast and usually pretty reasonable.

There's atm style machines out there now that give you cash on your gift card, fir a small fee. Pawn the GC.

2-3 used boutique pedals is your best bet.

This past summer...90's Guild Starfire (US, pre Fender, Westerly RI) with ohsc, mint condition. Looked like it had never been played $700. Beautiful guitar. They routinely sell on Ebay for over a grand.

What other people have said, there are websites and machines that will buy your Gift Card.

Is it transferable? Is there any way you could sell your $400 credit at a discount? If you factor in things like time, PayPal fees, shipping and hassle you could probably sell it for $300 or more and pocket the money right away.

Yeah, try to get someone to use it for you. you can easily flip something you paid $400 at GC for $200-300.

    Sorry,

if you are really bent on this, boss pedals and Gibson/Seymour duncan/dimarzio guitar pickups are regular movers on ebay, and you will take a smaller than avg. hit on the price and shipping.

I'd look at their on-line used inventory. There are often some bargains there that you could flip for full value or sometimes more.

I would just sell the card on ebay or to one of those gift-card places.

The problem with buying GC used gear is that it often is not in the
condition as it is described. Then you have to return it and start
    over.

Not had any issues having bought about 50 different pedals, 2 amps, and a 412... Most all shipped across country and one shipped by freight. I don't see a downside to being able to return stuff bought below market with minimal amounts of patience:dunno

Pedals should be ok, but I was thinking more of guitars. They are hit or miss as to whether the descriptions are accurate.
