1. The Gear Page is run by musicians for musicians. We listen, we learn and if we misstep we are not afraid to do the right thing. We proposed some changes to the Emporiums. Based on feedback from members, we have decided to not go ahead with those changes. However, it has also highlighted that we need some community input into what is working and what is not working for members here. Primarily focused on the Emporiums, we'd like input on your thoughts about TGP and how things work in the Emporiums for you and how you'd improve them. The discussion thread on the is here!

What gear has gone out of "style" here on TGP in the last couple of years? What has replaced them?

    Here are my two:

Peter Florence Voodoo P/U's ---> Lollars

    V-Stack- ---> Box of Rocks

We need a stock ticker for the gas-ability of pedals.

Cables seem to have become a new major consumer item in gear in the last two years.

It seems I can barely read a thread without hearing about a Deluxe Memory Man. Even about 6 months ago, I don't think they had nearly the mojo they have now.

Funny how "mojo" is so close in meaning to "hype" nowadays. :jo

First soda machines that adjust prices based on the temperature and now continuously changing pedal prices requiring a ticker. Crazy world.

Not any kind of judgement as to how the pedals sound, but in how fashionable they are on tgp.

I think Keeley and MJM are not nearly as hip. A couple years ago they were the rage, all anyone talked about.

This is a funny topic. Fulltone just seems to stick around because of devices no one makes like the Tape Echo, and because there's just so many fulltone pedals out there. At this point, I think fulltone is basically boss/MXR/Dunlop on speed.

I remember a few years ago at my local guitar shop, the two in pedal makers were Barber and Demeter. 6 months later, they quit suppling Barber, and I haven't seen a demeter there in almost a year. Now its all xotic, maxon, EH, boss the occasional fulltone and keeley, and as always, Pete Cornish. Nothing Id ever want to play. I wish they were a bit hipper about what they carried, but thats the sad part of living in the midwest.

As for the boards, I love this place, even if stuff goes in and out in the middle of the night. Some other stuff to add to previous lists, of what I've kinda noticed, at least in my opinion:

    On the Rise:

    Gaspedals!
    Durham

    Stable:
    Barber
    Xotic
    Crowther

Decline (at least in the chatting about, not in the use):
    HBE
    Caitlinbread
    Vans Amp
    Austone
    Diamond
    Keeley

Hey Bulldog. Can you tell me a good store in your area that I might get in touch with about carrying Durham Electronics? I'm never going to be one of the big boys, but I do like to make an appearance in every market. Thanks for the mention by the way.:AOK

    No problem Al,

I keep seeing your stuff everywhere.

The store in the Kansas area to talk to is Mass Street Music in Lawrence, Ks. The next best option is gonna be something in the KC Area, but I don't get up there enough to really name a specific store. Mass Street is probally the most well known (and highest trafficed) store in Kansas. A Warning: They've got a touch of the elitist, cork sniffing vibe, but all in all, they're a good store, and if anybody would be happy to carry some durham pedals, it'd be them. I can't guarantee anything though, as they seem hit or miss to me. I hope that helps.

I've tried a ton of pedals and the only one I miss is the Keeley SD 1 - 5 star mod. I'll be trying some Zvex and Lovepedal gear soon though. I'm not so sure quality is ever on the decline. Taste comes and goes but ultimately trends fade and the fashion is to return to the quality.

There is a definite flavor of the month factor with a LOT of gear but everytime I post that it causes controversy.
