I'm wondering: is it possible to order a Germino amp with a master volume option?
I'm thinking I'd like a defeatable, well-made MV (preferably situated on the back of the amp) on a Club40...

I recently tried a Bruno Pony 50W, with a MV just like that, and it's really great for getting that classic plexi crunch at reasonable volume.
Tony Bruno really knows how to build a great MV.

    Hey Haslar,
I just recieved my Club 40 and it's a fantastic sounding amp !!
i'll try it tomorrow with my Dr Z airbrake, maybe that's an answer for your
    question too... !?
as I've read in other topics here in the past Greg isn't going to put a MV on his amps.

i'll keep you posted on the airbrake thing, and maybe we'll meet somewere in France this summer as i'm going on the road with BJ Scott and there are a few gigs in France....
i'll surely will be using the Germino !!! :RoCkIn

I don't think Greg will put a MV in his amps. I've asked, and I think others have asked as well.

Use an attenuator instead and low efficiency speakers.

Greg will get that pained look on his face if you ask, use or install an attenuator or master volume on his amps...that much I feel confident in posting... :D

Or just install a PPIMV yourself for a few dollars.

If you go with MV, probably only usuable on the Lead 55, and at low volumes it'll sound nothing like what a Germino is all about.

Installing an attenuator will make him puke perhaps, but not the use of one. I have talked to him more than a few times and he has no problem with anyone "using" an attenuator... though actually "installing" one would indeed be a bit, well, extreme. :D

Technically you're right...but as he told me last October when we met for the first time, he says "I can pick an attenuated amp sound out with my eyes closed, and my back turned..." and then he shakes his head. Hee hee.

Greg will also tell you that he still uses an attenuator quite often. And during the 80s, he used a Powerbrake all the time. Obviously, he prefers not to use them. (Condom anyone?) But he does use them.

You can put a master volume on any amp. And it's not going to sound any better or worse at low volumes than it will on a Marshall or any other amp. Many have happily been putting the "Rich Mod" in their Marshalls for years, but it's taboo on a Germino? Besides, when the PPIMV's are turned up all the way, the master is out of the circuit.

well I did some testing Richard !
with the Dr Z airbrake you drop the overall volume while keeping the volume on the Club 40 at around 6..... but your missin' balls.
I got better result with no attunator but with a OCD or BB between guitar and amp, you get the crunch at lower volume....
best of all is offcourse guitar in to amp volume at 6 and kick ass.... :)
