I'm about to get a Gibson Firebird nr in Pelham Blue with the 3 P90's. It looks like a great guitar and I'm a sucker for P90's.
Does anybody have any experience with these? What are the plusses and minuses? Any mods or upgrades I should consider?
It looks and sounds great judging from the few demo's I've seen and I actually like the wonky esthetics. The Pelham blue doesn't hurt. I'm just interested in your opinion on the guitar. This guitar has never been on my radar until this deal came up and there aren't many hands-on reviews to find.

The only issue I ever had was that I found the non-reverse “birds” uncomfortable to play. Some don’t have any issue with that. However it didn’t work for me.

I also like the wonky look and Pelham Blue is a great colour.
They are very large guitars, as you probably already know.

Funny, the general consensus seems to be they are more comfortable than the reverse Firebird.

    Pelham Blue - check
    P90 - check
    Regular Headstock - No! RHS!

    Close enough though.

Reverse headstock would have been nice but definitely not a deal-breaker for me.

I can overlook anything as long as it has P90s.

I find the non-reverse Firebird more comfortable to play while sitting down. The reverse version feels awkward, although I think it's a nicer looking guitar.

I have a custom shop non reverse VII and it has a big neck. I'm not sure how that model is.

It's described as "ultra thin" but the word is that if feels slightly thicker than standard C. But I would like somebody to confirm

How does is it different from a 2015 Firebird? Btw: is the 2015 Firebird the only guitar from that year with "traditional specs"? Meaning normal nut, no robotuners, no hologram etc.

I just cannot stand looking at the non-reverse Firebirds - they really don’t work for my taste for some reason!

But there are plenty of fish in the sea. If you like ‘em - go nuts!! :D
