I know there was a thread on this but did a search & can't find it. Anyone have a link to that thread or experience with this mod? Thanks!

I 'clipped' this from another thread on treble bleed mods on the Guitar page here on TGP.

This link has the 50's Gibson wiring applied to a Strat.

Running everything though everything in series doesn't seem like a good idea to me. It coloures the tone unnecessarily "BUT" try it ,in guitar land sounds good is good is the only rule.

This mod doesn't run everything in series, it just puts the tone contol after the volume pots, the same as it does with "50's wiring" on a Gibson. It helps with the treble loss as you turn down the volume pot, and some say it works better than the various treble bleed schemes that many have tried. I've used the treble bleeds on my Fenders in the past, but I'm planning on trying this option on my Strat as soon as I can rewire it. It only involves moving two wires, so it can be easily put back to stock wiring if you don't like the result. I heard about this a couple of years ago in a thread (I think it was on this forum), and printed out the diagram back then, but thanks to the poster for the link, as I don't know where I put the printout I did back then!

    Hey 9fingers -

Happy Holidays! Have you tried this 50's wiring yet on a Strat?

Notice any difference? I'm thinking about trying it on a CIJ Strat I have around just to hear it!

    Thanks, Dana O.

I have been running my strat this way for about a year. I had a treble bleed circuit installed during a pickup change and never quite bonded with it.
The 50's wiring seems to open up my strat "just enough".

    I like it,

    Craig

You can do this wiring on a Tele, too.
