I am the original owner of a Gibson LP Std. (i think '06) I just took the burstbuckers out to send them to Wolfetone for the Dr. Vintage rewind. When I took them out they had "patent applied for" stickers on the bottom. Is this standard on all burstbucker pickups? I've never seen the underside of these pickups before.

Yes the '57 classic and the BB-2 I took out of my VM LP have PAF stickers on them. The '57 hs just the sticker and the BB-2 has the sticker and a tag like yours #2 AL V wound by PS.

I didn't even know that Gibson was still using the PAF stickers. Strange. Thanks everyone for the knowledge

Yes but those are not Burstbucker 1 and 2. If it came out of a Standard it would be a Burstbucker "Pro" which used to be called a "Burstbucker V." They have alnico V magnets, hence the "V" sticker on yours. 1 is neck and 2 is bridge, but they're not Burstbucker 1 & 2 in this case.

Ah, and the story changes . . . interesting. :huh

Wasn't sure which pickups they were. Thanks Bob

Joe Bonamassa's signature model has Burstbucker 2 and 3 - go figure that one out.

Seriously, the Burstbucker 1 & 2 have Alnico II magnets and are non-wax potted and are used in the Historics and signature models, generally with "one-louder" in the bridge position. All the other Gibson humbuckers are wax potted according to the specs on Gibson's site. The Burstbucker "Pro" have Alnico V magnets, and they're wound a little hotter for the bridge position. So a "V...1" means a Pro neck and a "V...2" means a Pro bridge. But, you know, Gibson customer service will respond to your email if the photo is small enough.

the "pro" neck and bridge are just BBs 1 and 2 with the alnico V magnets and the wax potting.
