I just got a 339 and after restringing with d'addario 11s, the g-string won't intonate. Saddle is jammed all the way back but the intonation is just a hair sharp. Should I return it or is there anything I can do to get around this?

okay, I was going to flip the saddle but noticed that the grove would be out of place then since it's cut off center. Now what?

    Your choices seem to be:

    a) Flip the saddle and see if the off-center notch matters
    b) Get a new saddle
    c) Get a new bridge (the Tone Pros AVR2 is supposed to be good)
    d) Go back to a lighter G string
    e) Endure the intonation imperfection
    f) Return the guitar

This would also be the order of preference if it were me.

Why couldn't you just flip the saddle and re-notch it?

On the 339 I got from MF on Tuesday, I had to flip the "G" string saddle as well...I did not have to notch it. You think that this being a "custom shop" instrument these folks would get it right for the price we pay!

Flipped the saddle on mine, and even though it wasn't notched in the center, it worked fine.

Even if they set them up perfectly at the factory...
    1. That may not be the setup you like
    2. intonate a guitar in Memphis and bring it to Brazil and you'll most likely be off.

Try a different G string... that one may be defective. I have heard this happening to DR strings.

I understand what you are saying and agree to a point. I have bought LTD and ESP guitars before and they come flawless. I own a shitload of Gibsons and there is always something ****ed up about them. Question is, why do I keep buying them? I love Gibson guitars but it aggrevates the **** out of me there lack of quality control!
