Fender doesn't have the cash and Gibson isn't for sale.
Maybe the guy who sells papers on the exit ramp will hire the guy who stands with a sign on the next exit ramp.
Probably not though.
One would hope that the person controlling Gibson would be a player with as much passion and business savvy as Paul Reed Smith, but again PRS has quite a bit of motivation to have a A1++ company as his name is on everything. I don't recall that anyone in the Gibson family line is involved with the company right now.
In my recollection, and looking on from the sidelines for quite a while, it seems to me that Gibson Acoustic in Bozeman has been able to avoid a lot of pitfalls that plagued Gibson Memphis and Gibson Nashville; from what I've heard and seen (and played), the acoustics are very highly regarded and are top notch in every respect. Let's overlook the neon green J-45 for now. Maybe some of the folks in Bozeman still have the passion for great guitars, and perhaps a few of those should be transferred to Nashville to get the standard production in line? Get the employees happy and enable them to do a better job?
More of the latter I hope. Sad seeing faux wood used when other cost effective alternatives are plentiful.
Exception that proves the rule.
See the last one million (roughly) gibson threads on the forum.
The creditors are a bunch of morons. Henry is the reason that they’re in the mess they are in to begin with You get voted in the top 10 group of worst CEOs in the US to work forAnd that means nothing?
Gibson is basically fine, it's the other Companies he bought up that are dragging them down.
Sending best wishes to the workers is like sending "thoughts and prayers" to victims of disasters. Might make you feel better but helps no one else.
From Music Trades Magazine.
They started the M2M program back in like 2010 originally. I got several quotes for an SG custom type instrument, but they refused under circumstances to build me an SG with an ebony fretboard because the ebony was reserved for L5s and LP Custom CS pieces. I got so fed up I bought a Myka, 3 Suhrs, and a Veritas. I have no idea if I'd be interested in a M2M SG. Maybe if they open up the ebony stash and let me dictate a weight range.
Should've called for my free titanium zero nut before this news.
I'll call this week and see what they are doing as a result of this financial issue.
GM, Chrysler, and Ford would beg to differ (though the bailout preceded formal bankruptcy, the principle's the same).
You may have it exactly backwards. Tronical's lawsuit (in theory, depending on how things shake out) could give them a priority position in case of bankruptcy.
He will if the creditors want it that way and a federal judge agrees! This is NOT in Henry J's hands anymore, it is in the courts hands now.
Ask GE how divesting their other (financial, in their case) arms and building around so-called "core" businesses is working out.
HTF would you know? What do you do, wish them worse ill? Send them turds and dead ants? Every time I see that quote my head explodes. Please post next time you suffer misfortune and see what gets sent.
