I just ordered on of these from MF for $299, big price drop for some reason. Anyone else have one of these? How good are they? Do they take pedals well?

    Thanks.

My only amp at the moment and I would pay twice as much to replace it. And yes, my pedalboard is bigger than my amp.

I've never played through one but $300 is a nice price.

I'd say MF is dropping the model, or Gibson is discontinuing it.

I don't know what is going on with it, but for 300 I figured I would check it out. Thanks for the replies.

I just got one from Musiciansfriend after they matched Sweetwater's price of $399. I called Musiciansfriend and they adjusted the price down to $299.

This amp is an incredible bargain. This little amp is amazing. Very sensitive to dynamics. It really brings out the tone of the guitar. So far I've only played my EJ strat and my LP Junior through it. Both guitars sounded great. The P-90 in my Junior sent the amp into creamy overdrive. It also cleaned up very nicely when backing off the volume.

I haven't tried any pedals with it, but I imagine it would handle them well.

I still can't believe how cheap these things are right now.

And I paid $400 for my used two years ago. But then, they were $600-700 new street price. I would describe this as a grittier tweed champ. If you crank it, humbuckers can be a little over-powering. Works nicely with a strat. With a P90 equipped mahogany slab, it can get wonderfully nasty.

Breakup is early. If you want to lower the gain, you can always sub a 5751 for the 12AX7. The Goldtone speaker is actually a rebranded Weber Signature 8s. It handles pedals quit well.

Fun amp...definitely a little different than "tweed"...I sold a used one about a year ago for $350...definitely getting a bargain...rumored to be a cousin to the Mini-Z...

aren't these just a hand-wired Epi Valve Junior???

I think all of these online dealers (at least the dealers Musicians Friend owns) are closing these out due to the huge interest into the new Blackhearts....

I just ordered one too. Seems like a very good price for a hand wired amp.

    Where are these made?

    Thanks,

Sounds like everyone is going to sell out quick! How do they sell an amp that lists for a grand for 70% off? Makes me think what they really pay for these things is next to nothing.

Just ordered one from MF myself. Don't need another amp right now, either, but that's a steal. Sweetwater lists them at 399.99 and they're out of stock. MF operator said they have em.

I've had mine for 3+ years (paid $425). Works great with pedals... I use an EQ and a reverb to give it some additional *features* and with a fuzz and an OD I've got a smile on my face for days. A few amps have come and gone in the time I've owned this (Rambler/Mercury/Vox) , but this has stuck around. I bought it to have as a second amp for when friends came over but found myself playing it more and more.

I've considered building a bigger cabinet to try it out with a 12" speaker, but everytime i play it I come away thinking "why bother?"...this thing sounds great just as it is. One of the few times I've read the on-line reviews and agreed without reservation.

What brand tubes come stock in this amp? I guess we should all be getting them around the same time and can give our consensus on them.
