I am retubing my Gibson Goldtone head- (GA 30 RVH)

    I have 4 JJ's EL-84's and...

I have one NOS GE 5751, which from what I can find is a low-output 12-AU7 replacement-

    I have three Philips NOS 5814 A's

I also have a bunch of JJ EC82's, and one JJ EC81.

Lastly, I've got a bunch of new Mesa pre-amp tubes.

Which tubes should I put in which place?

    Thanks!

    Joe

Experimentation is key. 5 people might come up with 5 different combinations that they like best.

5751 is slighty lower in gain than a 12AX7. That's probably one of your "best bets". 12AU7s (=5814) have very low gain and may cut volume too much. Try them though ,one at a time and see what happens.
