Was just appreciating my guitars this morning. Hands down the best Les Pauls I've owned...

Oxbloods are my favorite Gibson. I've been trying to find a used one for months. No luck so far.

It's worth the search if you can find one. They seem to come up in batches.

That bridge makes for a very easy guitar to play. Cool look to boot. I tried to show in the picture how it's really more of a deep chocolate color, though they mostly look black in the shade. Of course, if you prefer P'90s, you could always search out a goldtop R4.

Bobbymack, that is some tasty guitars there. Apart from looks and neck shapes, how much do they differ in sound, i.e does the R9 sound vastly different to the R7?

    Danger!!
Threads like this can start an internet war!!

I had my R4 and Top Hat CR at a gig Friday night and it was just slammin tone. That guitar and amp really make a nice combo, clean chimey, crunchy bridge, killer blues neck tone, it's all there!!

The Oxblood is killer, might be on my hitlist oneday just cause I love the wraptail so much.

Looks cool...does the wrap tail give much of a different feel? Does the R4 have the same fat neck as the 57?

I'm digging my GCR0 (holding me over until the right R0 flamer comes along)

I used to own a '99 Oxblood. Hands down the best LP I've ever had. I'm thinking of liberating a couple guitars from my herd to get another. I put a set of Timbuckers in mine, sounded awesome. Someone from here bought it.

I think that's the first picture I've seen that actually represents the color of the guitar...

They are all comparable, fine LPs. The R9 is however the most resonant, and definitely the loudest acoustically...

But what about the phone jack in the background? I was trying to capture the white, but the picture makes it look more of an off-white. Doh!

gkelm, you're killin' me with that pic. Best looking plaintop I've seen in quite a while. I'm not a flame guy... As for the necks, both of mine are just as huge and just the way I like them.

If you get a wraptail that might change. My R4 is LOUD!

Yeh, that Oxblood picture's nice. They always look black in the pictures I've seen before.

I'm gassing for an Oxblood myself, but I already have my share of historics including an R4 which has given me a taste for the wrap tail. Maybe I could sell my R7 if I find an Oxblood I like better.

These pictures aren't helping my gas.

    :D

That is an amazing looking fiddle.
    :AOK
Give me a plaintop like that anyday - I'm a bit over the hunt for the best looking flames. Heck even 250 dollar guitars have flame tops on em now.
