Here I have a very sweet 2008 Gibson Les Paul Standard '58 carve. This was originally a Les Paul Standard Faded but was transformed by DCX Guitars to a 1958 Les Paul spec and 60’s neck profile! For starters the Faded finish was completely removed down to bare wood. The top was re-carved to late 50's specs. The one piece mahogany body has some iridescent 3D ribbon stripes as does the neck. The neck was carved to a more “Jimmy Page” like 60’s profile neck. Plays very fast and comfortable. Sustain for days! The mahogany was prepared traditionally with aniline dyes and high VOC grain filler per original recipes. Its a little darker than LP’s current cherry VOS look (which to my eye looks cool but is a little lighter than a real 1958 should look). Both the body and neck have a very 3D grain giving it a nice shimmer when tilted to different angles in the light. You couldn't see this at all with the stock finish. The maple top was prepared to maximize the flame. A thin but gorgeous nitrocellulose lacquer finish was applied, machine buffed and hand rubbed to a high gloss. She really breathes and is very resonant, even acoustically. Classic Instrument grade nitro lacquer had been sun aged to give a natural amber tint. Its kind of like making sun tea except it takes months in the sun to get the amber tint. Minimal staining was needed for the light Honey burst finish. A vintage ink stamped serial number was added in the correct font. This finish will age just like the finish on original 50's Les Paul. This guitar has the original Burstbucker Pro pickups that have always sounded phenomenal! I have too many guitars and thinning the herd. This is a one of a kind!

    Weighs in at 7.95 lbs

    .821" at the 1st fret

    .917" at the 12th fret

    1.670" Nut Width

    Serial: 8 1708

Kudos for your especially informative ad. It should be a poster child for the thread where people are arguing over how "difficult" it is to share the guitar's weight in an ad. Under 8 lbs. - sweet!

Thanks! Funny! I didn’t know that weight disclosure was an issue. LOL
I guess people will still argue over if the world is flat or round. LOL!

Cliff notes version: A 2008 LP Standard that's been modified/converted per the OP info?? Or a 2008 LP Faded that's been modified/converted per the OP info??
My apologies if I've misunderstood, or did not comprehend.

The answer to your question is in the second sentence of the OP. :)

It’s a custom R8. It’s a 2008 chambered Standard that had a 58 makeover. The carve and dish are very accurate.

No. It’s a modded standard faded.

This is still a bit of a mystery to me.. This was originally a Faded LP correct? The ones with no binding and such? What was the original price point of the guitar as it will be more telling of the quality of woods and such. Thanks.

It had binding originally. 2008 LP Traditional faded had some very exceptional tops that year. Nothing esoteric here.
