I dig them plain top R8's and G0's but the thing that really gets me going is plain tops with flecks. I believe that's what they're called... Those little dark imperfections that tend to run 90 degrees or so to the grain more often seen on plain top LPs. Don't know why, perhaps it's character that they add and/or that they give the impression that the guitar is older. Am I the only one here? An example taken from Ebay below. I'm not at all related to the seller and I'd argue this git is perhaps a little too flecky, but cool none-the-less. Anyone have photos of their flecky LPs? Any flecksperts around?:p

I think they might be called mineral streaks... Either way I love them...

Yup mineral streaks - I love them on both plain tops and flame tops.

Flecks are what the small freckel like mineral deposits are called.
Mineral streaks are the longer streak like deposits.

I've had many LP's with 'em.
My '97 McCarty has a bunch of flecks and mineral streaks.

    A cloud 9 R8 I used to own.
    Had a very long streak.
Some flecks too but, this photo doesn't show 'em well.

Way too flecky (I believe most wood graders would reject this as having too many defects). I love the mild, but even flame! Color, too.

Wow! Now there is some beautiful fleckage! Nothing like a plain Jane with beauty marks.

    Kind Regards,
    Steve

Agreed Musicofanatic, which is why I'd like you to convince the Ebay seller his price should be slashed in half, so I can take that defective guitar off his/her hands.
    ;)
