Gibson necks???

    In which years did they use maple (3 pieces) for the LP necks?? I know they did in the 70's but did they also in the 80's??

    I think that the 3-piece maple necks began in '76 and ended when Norlin sold out in the mid 1980's...

    I could easily be mistaken, though...

    I've got an '81 Standard in clownburst. 1 piece mahogany back, 3 piece maple top, 3 piece maple neck. For what I paid ($330) it was a steal...

    My '76 LP Deluxe has a 3 piece maple neck.

    I have an '82 Standard that has the three piece maple neck and top, with a solid mahogany back. My '85 Standard has a mahogany neck.
