Heya, I've got this trade opportunity, my Lester on the strat.

If anything's apples and oranges guitar, it's this :)

Just for the fun of it, would you do this trade?

Me? Definitely not, but if Strats are your thing and you're not into your R8, then go for it.

Nope, intrinsically speaking, the Gibson costs far more to make.

Sure, why not. There about the same value.
Do you have other LP's?? Do you dislike this R8 ?? Over honky Gibsons??
I mean, i have a CS Strat and a LP Std, and while i love em both, I'm on a Gibson kick at the mo and my Strat n Tele are not getting much play. Not sure I'd trade the Strat for another LP, but you never know hey.

I would not trade an R8 for a strat. I'm not sure if the Wildwood 10 versions will be worth a premium in 10 years.

Which one would you enjoy playing more over the next 3-5 years?

Not a chance. As others have said, apples and oranges.

I will say this, that when I read the post I imagined an R8 neck on a WW10 strat body, and that made me stop and think

Hehe, I have a feeling that this forum is Gibson oriented.

Yeah, I passed on the offer. This R8 is too damn good. When I'll want a strat, I'll go buy one.

    Financially speaking, god no.

If the R8 is a dog though, I'd consider a setup before trading it for a strat.

    If you like strats though...

Eh it depends. I don't think I'd get rid of a good playing R8 but it really depends on what combination of strat vs R8 were talking about. There are some strats (master built , right etc) that I'd peg the value around a 'base' R8 (plain top, older specs etc) , that's just how it is.

But a special R8 is something I'd need in the stable; I'd find another way to fund the strat

I love Strats and dislike Les Pauls, so I would trade in a heartbeat.
