I like the looks & pickup & control configuration of the Gibson SG basses. (The "modern ones"). It looks like they might be neck heavy though. Any experience with that?
Thanks.

I have one. They have mild neck dive. Noticeable with a nylon strap; not noticeable with a 3" leather strap.

I've been playing a Gibson SG bass for a little over a year, haven't noticed any neck dive at all. Strapped on, it feels more like playing a guitar than a bass. I got one as a lark as I had one as a kid and broke it. I started playing the new one and haven't gone back to the Jazz bass other than recording for over a year playing with the band.

Very mild neck dive. I have none with a standard padded 2 1/2 Levys strap. Mines very light. Resonant. They are great basses. The new ones are coming with Baked Maple fingerboards.

agreed there is mild neck dive. toured the lower 48 with one a few years ago. not a fan of this particular bass. the bridge is terrible IMO.

The last one I had didn't dive..Or maybe slightly, but nothing that I noticed with a wide leather strap.

They're fun to play!
