Gibson Year-End Blowouts?

Does anyone know if any retailers will be discounting the 2016 Gibsons anytime soon? I'm looking at getting a 2016 Gibson SG or Les Paul and I'm not sure if I should wait or not for a big blowout sale that they've done in the past. I can't remember if they did a big clearence sale on the 2015 models or not.

From looking online at retailers right now, the 2016 models are still mostly at full price.

I haven't seen any motivational deals on Gibsons in quite a while. I have fond memories of the $999 Midtown Customs and RDs. Nothing remotely close so far.

I don't think that'll happen this year. Gibson is getting their house back in order after that colossally idiotic robot tuner a Chairman Mao hologram phase.

Last year was hot. I got a les paul special for under $700, and it's a workhorse.

What are you looking to spend? Mint condition 2016s SGs are selling on ebay for under 800

Not sure where you're seeing that... The cheapest 2016 SG is $950 on EBay, and most of the sold listings are over $900. I'd like to stay under $700 but I realize that might be pretty hard to do for any SG standard model.

I thought the Gibson blowouts typically happened just prior to thanksgiving.

A 2016 Firebird T is under $1000 at the street price plus discount. For such a good guitar, that might as well be a blowout price. The 2017's are significantly more costly, so get a 2016 while you can.

I just came home from GC with a 2016 Flying V Pro with a one piece body for $800. A bit of polish, new strings, a tweak here and there and I'm loving it. I think there are a few deals out there.

I just sold a 2011 SG Standard on Reverb for $750 shipped, it was listed here on the forum classifieds for a week with no interest. Expand your searches beyond ebay.

I miss the big blowout of 2013. I bought a brand new Les Paul Traditional at 9.2 pounds (no weight relief) for $1600 out the door. Best Les Paul I've ever owned!

I shoulda grabbed one of these SG Standards at that $850 price, at the 2013 blowouts - I finally did get one, but paid a hundred more...

He who hesitates...

I think the SG Standards were $750 for a while then, and LP Traditionals less than $1,500, maybe $1,350. Black Friday 2013. For the OP, I'd call some major dealers, often they come down quite a bit off the posted prices. Or just buy minty used.

Amazon may not come to mind for guitar buying but I once got an incredible deal on a 2013/2014 ES 330. Marked as used/acceptable. I took a shot considering the return policy and it must have been a return but it was flawless with the COA. Just needed some tweaking, I called and complained a little about the set up etc and they dropped $400 at the drop of a hat. Probably the best deal I ever got on a new guitar. Just had a look, I'm not up on the prices of 335s but there are new Memphis Sunbursts (not the Studio model) with block inlays for $1,999 (2015).
