Gibson put a countdown clock on their web site. Two weeks out. Can’t wait to see the specs.

It looks like lots of variations of the same model
Why can’t the make one great model of each line they used to
I love les Paul’s but would never even consider buying a new one when I could get a used one that’s more of what I like them for at much less

Very exciting! I'm not in the market for another LP, but it would be nice to see them stop changing up the models year after year. JC - new CEO - I believe said he was doing away with model years and keeping the LP Standard for instance the same year after year... Gee that sounds like a good idea to me.

Today right now, people who are after a LP for instance not only have to know what model that may want, but a date range or something to get the features they want that were persistent with that year. What a flipping mess if you ask me...

Yeah, it’s almost as bad as the number of different Stratocaster models Fender makes. o_O

My guess is the "New Collection" will either:
    A) re-affirm that under JC, Gibson is focusing on making vintage-flavored guitars in tasteful colors
    B) be a streamlined distillation of new ideas/models (in lieu of Henry's tasteless shotgun/dart board approach) in addition to the core models
    C) simply "not suck"
    D) all of the above

Funny how designs from the 1950s and early 1960s can still generate excitement. Guess they got it right from the start.

Just wait until the new collection is released. I'm sure some are waiting to see what's offered first, before they unleash their butthurt cannons. It'll be interesting to see which, and how many, Gibson models that weren't around before 1970 get dumped from the lineup.
