Remember in my youth this was done a lot. Now I see old Gibsons around a lot with Grovers. My Klusons have lasted 40 years with no issues. Just wondering what the rationale was/is. Thanks.

Better tuning stability mainly. I usually don't have any problems with Klusons. I love they way they look and leave them on.

Grovers feel more precise and smoother to finetune to me. But yeah, both work.

I am really diggin' the look of the Klusons on my new LP. I've never had a guitar with Klusons but these are super smooth to adjust and look great.

Mine came with Grovers, and they're just fine. I like Klusons because I like how they look.

Some people also claim to hear a tonal change... having changed many Klusons to Grovers, I haven't heard a tonal change. I just think they look better on some cases (like on Les Pauls and most ES-335's).
