Return To Forever.....Romantic Warrior. Classic RTF lineup on this one. You only asked for one but you may want to check out No Mystery as well.

I don’t think it gets better than this for guitar jazz and hadn’t been mentioned yet...there are soooooooooo many
for example every Herbie Hancock record 1962-75...especially the synth experimental early 70s

    One that I absolutely love:

It swings, sings and "rocks" and is just a load of fun from beginning to end. Cannonball is probably my favorite sax player.

You said only one recommendation, so I will not mention Rathkes Gate 12:21:58 with Paolo Vinaccia, Jacob Young, Bendik Hofseth or Take Ten with Paul Desmond ...

Since "Kind of Blue" was already mentioned, here is my choice. I consider both to be essential:

    These are my first thoughts.
Kind of Blue is nice and pleasing and a great introduction the how great and accessible jazz can be.

Years ago, I worked in a shop where we would take turns controlling the radio. And when folks started getting out of hand, I’d bring in my deluxe box set of Bitches Brew.......
Only one other person would appreciate my “sophisticated” tastes........
