(Maybe this should go in the tech section of TGP.)

I have a black Godin Kingpin, the lam archtop with the P90.
It's a great guitar, especially at this price point (I bought it used, so it was even lower...)

There's only one thing that I begin to dislike: The smell of the finish. It seems to be finished with some king of acryl(?) paint, and the smell is very penetrant (sorry for my English).

Question: Will this smell eventually fade away, or can I do something to get rid of it (speed up the fade away)?

    Thanks!

My Ebony black Kingpin does not have any smell. It's a "satin" type of finish, like old French polish style, not real shiny and not matte, in between.

Has yours been re-finished? or maybe the previous owner tried to polish it with something to make it shiny? That could be where the smell is coming from.

    No Smell here.
Make sure some joker didn't put anything rotten in the F-hole.

    People are strange.

Maybe my nose is just hypersensitive...

Hope I can live with it because I like that guitar.

BTW: have an idea for a startup: a technology with which you can share "smell clips" over the internet;-)

    (No, I'm no fetishist.)

I guess the nitro lacquer finish hasn't finished gassing off yet.

Call Godin (Guitabec) in New Hampshire & ask. They are very friendly folks.
