I'm getting a Morgan AC20 combo in a few weeks, I haven't decided on the speaker yet. Any suggestions from the above list, or any others for the most clean headroom? I'll be getting dirt from pedals...

IMO, the RF has more volume than the Blue, and appears/sounds to have more than the Gold. I say that because to me it feels more aggressive. (No experience with the Blackhawk.)

There are other speakers out there that may be louder, but they may pull you from what you looking to get out of the amp...

The Red Fang 10 is probably my favorite speaker, sounds better than the 12 IMO. A little less honky but still plenty of chime and plenty of low end. Not a huge fan of golds, yet...

I never thought of a Gold having increased headroom...? The Fang should though.

Anyone have thoughts of the Red Fang vs. Scumnico? They're the same price...

Had a Red Fang in a Fargen AC15 and it was glorious! I don't know if it was the amp or the speaker, but I had never experienced so much headroom from an AC15. I think the Gold might be too bright. What does Joe Morgan say? He does a great job of matching speakers to his amps.

He (Joe Morgan) is leaning towards Golds right now, but from reading past threads, his opinions change. He was really fired-up on the ASW Elegante a while back, but they have fallen out of his favor.

Joe had also suggested a Century Vintage Neo in one of his Voxy amps...

I never considered the Gold bright. IMO it was not as bright as the Blue...YMMV.

Could well be wrong about the Gold being bright, but I find them brighter than the Red Fang.

That would save me $50 and some weight...

Neo speakers work so well in some amps.

I snagged mine off of Parts Express for 80 bucks. I have yet to break it in but it sounds like it might prove to be a nice choice. (Although the sensitivity is rated lower than the other speakers mentioned here.)
