    Am I one of the only people on the planet that think gold top LP's & copies look terrible with pickguards?

    You're not the only one, but we're definitely in the minority.

    All LPs look silly without the guard.

    I don't care for pickguards on any LP. Here's mine.

    I prefer it off. On a Les Paul, I think they often look cheap and tacked on. On a larger hollowbody, I don't think they look like a last minute add on.

    I'm more of a "pickguard off" guy but I do have one on my Candy Apple Red LP.

    Sorry, after 49.5 years of LPs having pickguards they just don't look right without them to me.

    For a Lester,
    Flametop = no guard
    Plaintop/Opaque (including goldies) = guard

    In my humble opinion...

    Fixed. Pick guards in many cases are an abomination, but crappy gold car paint (or "butterscotch")? :barf

    I prefer guards on all my LPs, but I'll grant you this--black guards (and plastic) look horrendous on gold tops.

    I'll slightly amend my original statement, the main reason I don't like them is because they're a 5 cent piece of plastic and look like it. If it was a nice piece of metal I'd be all for it.
