Flametop or any translucent finish.
Not only would any goldtop i purchase require a pickguard for that CLASSY look, i would require the trapeze
I recently bought an R4 off of a forum member. 1st thing I did was take the pickguard off.
What really makes no sense to me is drilling holes in an LP to add a PG to a guitar that doesn't have one...an object which with the purpose ostensibly to protect the finish.
Gold top, yes.
and if it has humbuckers they need covers!
Mine had a nice look with the pickguard IMHO .................but if you prefer it w/o hey that is a-ok with me..............to each their own as they say.
I like pickguards on mine. Not on everyone out there, but on mine.
I've always thought customs look dumb AF without a pickguard but this thread just made me wonder...
Took it off, looks dumb AF as expected. BUT.... holy crap it feels so much better to play. Dunno why it's taken me like a decade to try it, it totally frees up my right hand for strummier / funkier stuff.

You must suffer!
My eyes! My eyes!
Have you learned your lesson yet?
I doubt it.
A-gree! Both my GT and my Deluxe (my avatar guitars) sport pickguards. Just don't look right without them.
I mean, how can you not love that?
I have pickguards on all my LPs. I wish I could find someone who could make me custom pickguards for both of the PRS single cuts I have.
Pay no mind to me....I'm just taking advantage of a posting opportunity...
