It seems to me Blackfaced Fender amps,
especially the high power ones, are particularly
    hard to match pedals to.

Anyone made any cool discoveries with
    pedals and hi-power BF Fenders?

I've found the new Barber Gainster works great.
My Eternity sounds killer thru BF Fenders.

Sadly, my beloved Dual Drive and Sunlion sound
    very average thru BF's.

Seems to me the tubescreamer circuit was designed for single coils into black/brownface fenders, especially those models with no mid controls. Just one of the reasons why the Zendrive, w/its dominant mids, is such a good match.

My old faithful's been an early MJM custom BluesDevil for years - true-bypassed 808 clone w/an extra dollop of gain - One of the best TS type pedals around.

Another one that delivers good bang for the buck's the silver LTD. All of Barber's stuff has a pronounced midrange voicing to my ears- the new LTD less so, but still plenty for my taste.

And then there's Timmy. Its chameleon-like quality lets it bring out the best in every amp I've got.

For edgier, more modern tones, the Eternity can be a good fit..

EDIT: Holy smokes - can't believe I forgot the HoneyBee, makes my Vibrolux wheeze & bark like an old tweed champ, but at twice the volume!

I've liked just about every OD pedal I've had through BF Fenders. In order:

    TC Jauernig DGTM
Fulltone Fulldrive II with the toggle
    COT50
    Blackstone

Timmy, Honey Bee, Original Marshall Blues Breaker all sound excellent thru a BF (of the pedals I've tried, still waitin' on a Zendrive).

Does the Hotcake or OCD work well with high powered fender amps?
    Thanks

I'm like a broken record recently :D If you want more dirt pedals to hang with your BF fender, change the speakers! I like the Celestion Neo Dog. Otherwise, with Jensens, I've found that the Varidrive w/Mullard 12AT7 will work, or the Vox Cooltron Big Ben, or the LTD. I don't care much for the DDSS with Jensens. For heavy gain, a Tech21 GT-2 works well. Of course, don't forget to turn off the bright switch with Jensens!

    My choice:
BJF Baby Blue stand alone or KLON or Dyna Red with Baby Blue.

My recent discovery: Clay Jones OD. I was fortunate enough to order 1 last year.

Tim, Timmy, Blues Pro, and my new number one "ZENDRIVE". I just love this pedal, through BF Fenders and Marshalls.
