    Hey guys-

i just want to open up my music world by listening to some rock/indie/atmosphere/shoegaze/experimental type of music. anything along those lines with those sick experimental effects w/ modulation and oscillation and different abuses would be neat. stuff like mutemath, minus the bear, and those guys. please suggest me some bands! thanks.

    Check out The Appleseed Cast.

They just released a new album last week called "Sagarmatha." I think you'll dig it.

Their other albums are great as well.

Longwave has some rather spacey kind of stuff you might like.

I haven't seen Sigur Ros mentioned yet either.

There's a really bizarre band called Morgen in the late 60's that might qualify on your search. The playing is above average and the girls vocal is very unusual for its time and ahead of the alternative thing by 20 years.

    Morgen

Another plus for Sigur Ros. Love that band. I personally like Bed Head a great deal, as well as Built to Spill (Perfect from Now On changed my life!!!)

A bunch of good ones have been listed already... worthy of mention are Ratatat, Boards of Canada, The Knife, etc. I'll make a more complete list later. The three I mentioned are more electronic, but really cool. A bunch of great indie bands out of Iceland which I'll list later.
