Can anyone recommend a good 2X12 cabinet that can handle a well made 100 watt head? The head(s) will be a Mako Mak4 and a hopefully a Bruno Super 100.

your cab should have more total watts than the amp you'll be using it with. also, make sure you match ohms. i like celestion vintage 30's. they're actually 60 watts, so they have enough power for you. plus, avatar has a special deal on 2x12's with 2 V30's. they sound very rock n roll.

...at a minimum of 50 watt speakers in a 2 speaker combination for the 100 watt head.

+1 on the Avatar.

Great service, great company.

Sorry, but what the hell is "front loaded", "polarity", "rear loaded", and "matching ohms" mean? I know that you have the match the output ohms to the cab, but is there anything else?

front loaded and rear loaded just refer to which way the speakers are put in. with ohms, just match the the head to the cab and you're set.

I know different speakers give out different things, but which would be a good fit for most amps (Bruno Super and Mako Mak4)?

vintage 30's are very nice speakers. they're kind of an industry standard. most of the brand name 4x12s (mesa, orange, bogner, diezel etc) have V30's in them. i personally love them and think they're great for all kinds of music. they excel at rock though.

Take a look at the Trutone Custom cabs. They sound great, are built like a tank, inexpensive, and Robert is a really nice guy to deal with.

I have never ever heard Vintage 30s that sounded good with a Dumble style amp. The Bruno Super100 is a Dumble clone so the V30s are out imo. Big mistake. Harsh city. Trust me.

Avatar, Bob Burt, or Trutone are all good choices! Try the new Eminence Wizards or Tonespotters for that sweet tone. Maybe not Sabbath like Rock and Roll but they will be infinately warmer and sweeter than V30s

Um...sure. I don't know what IQ has to do with it, but okay. (Guitar Cab Speaker 101 isn't an available class).

Really? With a little simple use of the search engine, this forum is the best Guitar Cab Speaker 101 class in existence. If you can't find it here on your own, you haven't looked. It would be refreshing to see you do that first, and then ask us some questions based on your own research.

dude are really going to buy a bruno super 100 AND a mako, AND a 2x12 cab, none of which you have ever heard, to bring to your dorm room??!! And you say you want a cheap cab yet you are buying over 5K in amp heads?

Why don't you just buy a nice small tube combo with reverb and a good master volume so you can have something portable, reasonably priced, and practical? A riveria chubster perhaps, or a Dr. Z maz junior and a nice boost pedal, ...this type of amp would be easy to find, could be bought used and sold easily if you really don't like it, and would still be a high quality pro sound and be a much friendlier college amp.
