Have you tried an LTD-SR or LTS-Silver?
SR can be dialed in for some nice bite, like a cranked amp. Same as the Silver though the Silver has more mids.

I havent tried the barbers yet. I was hoping for something a bit smaller but I might have to try them anyway.

I use a Hotcake set with the gain low into a vox inspired amp. 100 lb. twang!

Check out the new Durham pedal...sounds like what you are loking for and Al makes great stuff. Sex Drive turned up also does nice job.

If the Tim didn't do it for you, maybe you need a clean booster that is capable of some very mild gain? The SexDrive was a good suggestion, IMO.

I dont know. The Serrano isn't doing it. Actually the closest I've come to what I want is the Keeley 4 knob into the Serrano into the Cactus Crunch. My amp has a big fat warm clean sound and I struggle getting enough snap and chime out of it. I can come close with just the keeley and serrano but its missing some body and just feels lifeless.

just saw a clip with the man himself playing it and saying just what you are looking for..something like: "lots of punch without all the gain, really punches" seems like channel 1 is just that.

the other clip (saw these on axe and you shall receive) he a/b with a TS and you can definitely tell the difference..just thought id share..

Maybe you need a compressor for "snap and chime," or perhaps the amp is what's keeping you from getting the sound you want.

As far as boosts go, I had a Catalinbread Super Chili Picoso for a while, and it added a nice sheen to the tone. The MXR Microamp might get you there, too.

Another boost to consider is the T Juaernig Luxury Drive. It adds some sparkle to your tone along with the volume boost, and may be what you need to push your amp into overdrive. I'd love to try his Gristle King, which is the Luxury Drive plus DGTM overdrive in one pedal. He works for Peavey now, and his pedals are getting harder to get.

Thanks for all the opinions. I think the big thing is getting the snap+nice meaty punch + a really cleanish sound without too much breakup. The 18v on the Cactus Crunch I believe did that well.

Vintage 30 and G12H30. They could be the problem.

Maybe. My tone needs more spank.
