1. The Gear Page is run by musicians for musicians. We listen, we learn and if we misstep we are not afraid to do the right thing. We proposed some changes to the Emporiums. Based on feedback from members, we have decided to not go ahead with those changes. However, it has also highlighted that we need some community input into what is working and what is not working for members here. Primarily focused on the Emporiums, we'd like input on your thoughts about TGP and how things work in the Emporiums for you and how you'd improve them. The discussion thread on the is here!

Good lord, we need an infusion of (relative) youth here...

Maybe it's just an observation, but I seem to be a pup here being in my early 40's. I could generally care less about most players from the retirees generations, though I can appreciate the contributions they made to the current scene.

Can you name one player from the "current scene"?

Zakk is still out there tearing it up. Andy Wood is a hell of a player, as is Devin Townsend. All still active and releasing music.

It’s both an observation AND an opening sentence. So it’s at least two things...anyway. You are probably the average aged TGPer.

Zakk is still out there. In about the same capacity as Angus Young.

There's that young gun selling out theaters all over the world . . . plays the blues, loves gear, wears sun glasses. Can't think of his name but he has a lot of fans on here that seem young.

Middle-aged is the new "young gun" in TGP world.

    Good to start with.
Although, if any of them were to post here, someone would undoubtedly do their best to assert superiority and run them off.

“We need youth!” (Says the 40 something OP...)
I'm sure the 20 something’s would agree, then promptly kick the OP out.

It is a self-evident truth that great music is both ageless and timeless. I can’t imagine anything more stupid than judging a piece of music by the release date. We're not talking about a carton of milk for God's sake.

Using the OP's own logic, he is actually labeling himself as old, irrelevant, and outdated. To make matters worse, when asked to name a relevant and current player, he came up with Zakk Wylde. *cough*
Anyway, I don’t judge people by their birthdate, I judge the soundness of their ideas.
Speaking of which, better get to work on those ideas OP... your youth is already behind you.

Some of these folks would be considered “old souls” from a music perspective. No?

Back in the 60s you couldnt 'trust anyone over 30'. Now, you are barely an adult at 30. Or rather, barely have any money at 30. :D

I'm 23 and most of the artists/bands I listen to died long before I was born.

Yeah that too....who listened to music from the past up until about 30 years ago?

I was primarily listening to late 60s and early 70s bands when I was a teenager in the 90s.
