I was given a $100 gift certificate to GC and am looking to pick up a high gain pedal. I currently have a TS9, an MXR BA Modified OD and an OCD so a higher gain pedal is what I'm after. Yes, being that the card is to only this one store, it will limit my selection. So, I wanted to put it to the group...

    What say you?

By the way, the rest of my board consists of an EP Booster and CC Delay and the TS9 is currently off.

I'd look at their on-line used section.

Perhaps a Barber Dirty Bomb if you want high-gain. Or a Direct Drive if you just want mid-gain.

MXR and EH are both building some high gain pedals now. Since they have a very liberal return policy I'd just try something with the plan to send it back if it's not "the one". That said, you owe it to yourself to try a Red Llama reissue. Definitely a different flavor than any of the others you've mentioned and stacks well if you need more gain!

Oh, and if you're GC has the Fryette SAS for their $119 blowout, you've GOT to try that pedal. It's a real tube, running at 200v!! and it sounds GREAT. Clean boost to very high gain (VH brown sound level) in one box.

Thanks for your responses so far.

    Is there any love for:

    - Plimsoul?
    - Crunchbox?
    - Lovepedal Superlead?
    - Lovepedal Amp50?

I would get something way huge. Also you save $20 on orders $99 and above right now.

I really like the Superlead. But it's not a super high gain. More like modded Plexi or JCM800-like. I've had many MIB pedals but for the money this one is one of my favs.

I never liked the Lovepedal Superlead, it just didn't sound right... Maybe the MXR BA Distortion? Or Fullbore Metal, haven't really played either of them, but I know GC carries them, can you go into a GC to try stuff out by chance?
