Got a havalina

First impressions is that is sounds pretty good but is picky about placement. All the other fuzzes I use sound best after my overdrive (mxr gtod) but the havalina sounds thin and way bright in this position. Tried it with fuzz first and sounds better. I'll probably send back as I don't want to muck up my existing setup. My od is always on so I need my fuzz to work downstream. Not sure if it's a buffer issue or what but haven't had this problem before. The mid-rich mxr sounds great feeding my fuzzface and big muff.

It could be an impedance issue coming from the OD, or as you mentioned the Havelina just generally not liking any buffers before it. Germanium based fuzz pedals are pickier than silicon style Muff fuzz pedals.

What model fuzz face are you playing with? Some of those use silicon transistors as well, which would explain why it's getting along better in the chain than the Havelina.
