Looks like my Metropolitan gets delivered to Chuck's in Baltimore this week and will be shipped to me right after.... can't freakin' wait. I'll send out a review after it gets here.

I swear, the longer it takes and the more time I waste cruising TGP the more and more I want every amp under the sun. Carol Ann OD2R, Magic Brit III (30W available this month), Bruno UG 30.... i hate you guys... i mean, my wife hates you guys. i can't tell you how many times i thought about canceling my order because something else might be better :bonk

Yes, this place can have that effect on you! I've been through, oh, about two dozen amps over the last few years. Thank you, internet! :D

Can the amp just be shipped directly to you? Why does it have to make a stop at Chuck Levins?

i was really wishing Lance did a demo of that thing using a Tele....
i think i've watched that same video about a zillion times now..

in my opinion, the metro is the perfect size, wattage and tonally diverse amp. as you can tell, i've got some pretty low expectations. ; )

So Mr. UPS brought me a nice package today... my new Tone King Metro in brown and white. There's plenty of pictures already posted on TGP so i won't bore you with more.

Got all the tubes put in but haven't had a lot of time to play with it. This weekend will be a Tone King trial-run weekend for me. I did run the Strat, the Tele and the Les Paul through it for a while and did a quick side-by-side with my Swart MkII. In the manual, Mark gives an amazing, detailed description of why he chose every tube in that thing and what he felt about alternatives... i've never seen another manufacturer go through such detail.

First impressions.... sounds awesome. I really gravitated towards the lead channel with the mid bite... really great, organic, woody drive. Kinda reminded me of the Swart's tweed sound... which to me is super organic. Love the the rhythm channel too, just haven't spent enough time yet with it.... after the weekend i'll give better reports on both.

Any negatives? The only thing that kinda bugged me was some annoying tube vibrations when i revved the amp up... but that's about it.

This thing loves strats, sounded awesome with my Tele which is loaded with Lollars and even my Les Paul really sang. I'm gonna run through this thing all weekend so I'll keep you guys posted with updates. If anyone has particular questions lemme know and i'll do my best to answer. if you want me to try something specific with a guitar, lemme know that too.

I'd better buy a fresh bottle of bourbon for the weekend... looks like i won't be going anywhere.
