I am very interested in these tremolos from gotoh. I want to build a strat using a USACG strat body, but Tommy is not familiar with these tremolos. I don't think these are a drop in for a 2-post american fender strat. Thoughts?

I would find a spare Am Se body you can borrow, and mock the thing up.

The Am Se style body is not the default choice for a USA Custom Guitar S body, so you might have to the be patient, but an Am Se style USACG body would sell, whether it was Gotoh compatible or not, so you shouldn't get stuck.

What made you choose this Gotoh model, if I may ask?

I have a gotoh 1099 on my grosh. Great craftmanship. Guitar makers Suhr and Tyler are very impressed with them, they now put the 510T tremolos on their guitars. I believe these have may a modern floyd-like type feel and response, yet have a rounder, less pingy tone.

The studs and block routing are bigger on the 510 than the American Std.

    From Warmoth:

    American Std:

    Stud diameter is .375"

    Gotoh/Wilkinson:

    Stud diameter is .382"

The 510T series should fit any 2 studs Gotoh/Wilkinson route which Tommy offers.

BTW, Suhr uses the 510TS with steel block, where the 510T has black pot metal block.

It will fit an Am std rout with less than 1mm removed (2 seconds with a dremol) to accommodate the arm mech retainer bolt.
