Hi, I need new tuners for a 1963 Jazzmaster. Since it has a string tree, are the height adjustable pole pieces necessary? Thanks in advance.

No. I have them on a strat and also 2 teles with regular vintage and gotoh NON staggered. So i have all 3 varieties if vintage fenders and variants. My opinion....unless you do a lot of trem work regular tuners are just fine. As to height adjustable....to be honest i never felt that was a huge benefit and in fact i had twio sets of them and a couple of the tuners eventually went bad so i have one set left and 4 spares. The adjustable ones are not as reliable because the height adjustable mechanism isn't real solid. I've had the bad ones apart trying to fix them and after looking at them i would opt for the non adjustable ones for the reliability to be honest.
