Graphtech Saddle Spacing

Hi All,

I just added some graphtech vintage spaced saddles to my john mayer strat.

The spacing is different than the stock saddles. I find that I am able to align the high and low E better than the stock saddles, but now there are spaces between the saddles and they don't all touch.

Is this OK? Should I have gotten different style saddles for this guitar?

Thanks!

Hmmm . . . that guitar definitely wants vintage-spaced saddles. Maybe the graphtechs you bought were mislabeled import-spaced. Try loosening your strings, squashing the saddles together and measuring your E-E distance. True vintage saddles should put them 2-3/16" apart (or sometimes people write 2-7/32"). Import spacing is 2-1/16". If they were mislabeled, you should be able to return/exchange them.

yep, you got the wrong ones. those weren't actually "vintage spaced".

you want the vintage-spaced saddles, or they'll slide around and be spaced unevenly.
