I've gotta give this Ringo. Don't know what he was on, but this is freakin gold...

Closely followed by George. Every line an effortless gem.

This was a brilliant speech by Flea. The stories, the emotions and the manner he delivered it was perfect for Metallica. I remember watching it via live stream and when he started to talking about Cliff I couldn't help tears from blinding my eyes.

The best was Elton John inducting Leon Russell. It had it all, a great story, a digression into history that opened a lot of eyes (all the tunes Leon played on as a session man!) and a very emotional, up from the bottom and back on the feet kind of thing. Never saw a better award show presentation for anyone.

Yeah, it's funny... but OTOH I can't help but think that here's your big moment when you & your band finally get into the RRHOF - and you stand on stage and go "blah - blah - blah...." for 3 minutes. It would've been nice to hear some good band stories from him instead.

Also - it makes me cringe when people get up there and launch into some profanity-laced speech about whatever they feel like talking about. Show come class, people. Mike Love's incoherent ramblings during his induction speech got to be the worst speech ever. If you have nothing better to say, just thank everyone & get off the stage.

Perhaps my favorite line of any RRHOF speech came from Brian Wilson, who said:
"I wanted to write joyful music that made other people feel good"

Alex leifsons was pretty funny for the first 30 seconds. He should have cut it short.

This one is my pick too. He is actually taking a pretty big stand on a particular issue.
    Classic!

Thank you. Lifeson thinks he's funny, but he's not. Better to not show up at all than embarrass yourself in such a manner.

One of the very worst HOF speeches if not the worst.

I'd give that ten seconds at most. Move on.

    Peace,

Those were Ringo's drinking days. You can find other interviews from the same time period and he's pretty messed up. Thankfully, he's gotten it together.

I feel like I'm taking the Lifespn speech differently than others do, the people that like and dislike it. To me it's a comment on the generic speeches that get spouted over and over and not a slam on the HoF like some/most.

I don't think Lifeson thinks he's funny. I think he knows he's a goofball and he's learned to be comfortable in that.

Eddie Vedder has to be the best induction speaker. Nails it every time.

I'm not a big U2 or Marley fan, but Bono's speech is damn good.

No speech will ever touch the, "BLAH, BLAH," speech.
